About JR

Hello, I’m JR Gallegos, Director of Detox and Assessment at Valiant Living.
My work is rooted in providing compassionate, clinically sound care as clients navigate the challenges of withdrawal, early stabilization, and the first steps of their recovery. I am deeply passionate about mental health stabilization and actively utilize clinical techniques to support clients through crisis, emotional dysregulation, and psychiatric symptoms. I work closely with our exceptional psychiatry team to assess medication needs, support medication adjustments, and motivate clients toward consistent adherence—all critical components of early recovery and long-term wellness.

I also lead the implementation and ongoing development of our short-term residential program at the Valiant Detox and Assessment Center. In this role, I have the privilege of guiding an exceptional clinical team dedicated to delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based care in a highly supportive environment.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and am both a Licensed Addiction Counselor and a Licensed Social Work Candidate in the state of Colorado. My focus is to promote seamless transitions from active addiction into treatment, through our continuum of care, and toward long-term recovery and a renewed quality of life. I also work closely with families to foster safety, communication, and accountability while their loved one is with us.

Originally from the beautiful state of New Mexico, I bring a strong passion for family-systems healing and the belief that recovery is most powerful when individuals and their support networks grow together.
